Overall goal of this quarter: Develop a generalized algorithm for creating any type of robot so that the user can input certain requirements and be told exactly how to put together materials to create a robot
The upcoming weeks are going to be focused on creating an automated hand. At the end of the summer research we had a hand that was powered using fishing line and fingers that were powered with SCP actuators. Now, I will be working on piecing the two together. First I am going to focus on creating automated fingers (i.e. fingers that work simply using a microcontroller and a battery). Then I will focus on integrating these into the hand.
In order to move forward with the actuator project’s goal of powering the actuator using just the microcontroller and a battery, this week I spent more time learning about the theory behind the H bridges on the motor shield. I will now be working on the Arduino code which will allow us to control two SCP actuators from the motor shield.
