Basic Virtual Reality Environment Creation and Vive Set up
Bilal Malik vr environmental designThe current project that is being worked on is building off of the RoboGrammar, a graph heuristic search. Rather than a user needing to input a prebuilt terrain, a user may be able to use simple interactions to design an environment such as the width and length of a hill.
This week my overall goal was to set a simple hill in Unreal (which may or may not still be used) and put this on Vive.
The first day of the week was spent getting used to the Unreal game engine (which will continue into the next week). After some overview of the workings of Unreal, a better part of the second day was spent setting the Vive up, although some complications did come up, especially when using my personal laptop.
The next two days were spent attempting to use Unreal to create a simple hill (although this may not be used).
The following shows what I had been able to get done.
I was not able to get these up the Vive, which will be looked into.
I am looking to understand Unreal the next week and look for other instances of simple design in VR to possibly implement (and build on top of).
